Selected value not updating
(But remember that one could still paste any other value in there, and Excel will not alert you if it does not appear on the Source List) Please play around with the attached sample Workbook. If you add Data from the Drop Down boxes that shows an error, to the Source List, the error will disappear. Thank you Winon, i don't know if i use this solution cause of restrictions in my project but it is definitely that i'm looking for. If you insert a Form Control Combo Box (Found on the Developer tab) instead of a Drop down list via Data Validation, any changes you make to the source list are automatically reflected in the Combo Box selection. When this happens, a bunch of questions immediately flash across your mind. Why doesn't this formula update its value automatically? Is my Excel corrupt or is this due to some malicious virus?
For example: user change Cat on Super Cat, press the "good button Validation" and excel will color drop downs which have invalid values. If you select the Cell with the Drop Down, then go to Data on the Ribbon, select Data Validation, and on the Settings Tab, uncheck the Ignore Blanks box. K., click your way out back, then the Dropdown will accept only Data from the Source List. No you cannot update it automatically to show Super Cat. Example : i create a list (cat, dog, cow), i create a dropdown on this list and select the first - cat. Dropdown has a new list, yes, but selected value still Cat. Or are maybe there any shortcut for validation to let me know that i should change my value from invalid ( if the first variant is impossible )?And how do I get my Excel to calculate and update formulas automatically again?
Don't worry, most likely your Excel is all right, and you will get all the answers in a moment.
As you know, the arguments of Excel functions are entered within the parentheses.
